Sheikh Zayed Housing Program (SZHP) has signed contracts with UAE developers to start the first phase of a project, which aim to build 336 residences in Al Sayouh 16 residential complex in Sharjah.
The contract was signed by Eng. Jamila Al Fendi, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program (SZHP), with representatives of developers, and in the presence of Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development and chairman of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, in the Program’s headquarters in Dubai.
The first company will build 206 residential units in Area B of the complex, worth AED 230.9 million ($ 62.87 million), while the second company will build 130 residential units in Area D, worth AED 134.5 million ($ 36.62 million). This contract is part of the government’s efforts to achieve residential stability through the construction of sustainable housing complexes, the project will witnesses construction of a total of 818 housing units in several stages, which is located in the city of Sayouh 16 near to the main roads and along with the vital roads leading to Khor Fakkan and Maliha. the project area is 1,289 million square meters, as the average area for each unit will reach 960 square meters.
The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2021, with the emphasis of the calling for tenders for the second phase to build 482 residential units. The project will reduce the carbon footprint of each resident by 21%, as well as water consumption by 33% and electricity by 10%.
2. Oman
Project: Oil storage station

Galfar Engineering & Contracting (S.A.O.G) has announced that it has secured a sub-contract worth $ 16 million, which is related to the construction of the first phase of the Ras Markaz crude oil storage terminal, located near the special economic zone in Duqm.
The client is the China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Company (Oman Branch). as part of the sub-contract, Galfar will undertake the pre-preparation, grading, leveling, drilling and blasting of the crude oil Station. While Oman Tanker Company (OTTCO), a subsidiary of Oman Oil Group and Orpic, will developing the crude oil station at Ras Markaz the on an area of 1250 hectares. When completed, it will save about 200 million barrels of energy, making it one of the largest crude oil reserves in the world. The first phase of the ambitious projects includes building eight tanks with a capacity of 650,000 barrels for each. The station will also be connected to the Duqm Refinery, which is currently under construction about 70 km below the coast in Duqm.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has awarded the consortium of Strabag Dubai, Strabag AG, Andritz Hydro and Ozkar the establishment contract of the hydroelectric power plant pumped in Hatta. The project is the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf, will generate 250 megawatts, and it is expected to last up to 80 years and is scheduled to be operational by February 2024.
EDF has been appointed as a consultant for this project. This strategic development will diversify the energy mix and support Hatta’s economic, social and environmental development. It will also achieve Dubai Clean Energy 2050 goals, which aim to save 75% of Dubai’s total clean energy production by 2050.
DEWA will provide Leading and innovative job opportunities for UAE nationals to support the comprehensive development plan at Hatta, these include positions at the Visitor Centre, other outdoor activities and tourist facilities associated with the project.
4. The United Arab Emirates
Project: Al Falah housing Community Expansion

A project worth AED 2 billion has been awarded to Aldar Properties to develop the Al Falah housing Community Expansion Project on behalf of the Government, to add 899 new villas, with an area of 515 square meters for each, to the existing 4,898 villas. A mosque, with a capacity of 2,000 worshipers, will also be developed as part of the expansion. A number of Abu Dhabi developers have been appointed to deliver these units, which are currently under designing, and are scheduled to be completed within 3 years.
